Description :

Sylvia Whittington was a teacher at the Elder Conservatorium and was a prominent member of the South Australian Orchestra and the Elder String Quartet.
In 1921 she was described in the Australian musical news and digest as 'one of the most accomplished violinists that this state had produced'. An admirer purchased and presented her with a Guarnerius violin.
