Description :

On the banks of the River Torrens a short distance from Adelaide, Klemzig (Klemzic) was settled in late 1838 by the first significant group of German migrants in South Australia. The group came to South Australia with the financial assistance of George Fife Angas. The village was named after a town in Brandenburg, the area of Prussia from where many of the settlers came.
