Description :

Article announcing the decision that Australian troops would be sent to Borneo to assist the Malaysians in the repulsion of Indonesian militia.


The 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), stationed at Malacca since the establishment of the Far East Strategic Reserve, and a unit of Special Air Service (SAS) troops were to be posted to Borneo. The accompanying photograph shows soldiers from the 4th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (4RAR) marching down King William Street to the Torrens Parade Ground.
