Description :

Portrait of R. Williams from Moolooloo from the S.A. Northern Pioneers' composite, 1850-1859 (shown in position on B 6912/4).

Moolooloo station was originally held by John McKinlay but was quickly passed to the Chambers brothers, who arranged for John McDouall Stuart to survey the run. In 1857 copper was discovered on the property and the Chambers opened mines at Oratunga and Nuccaleena. They sold the lease to Philip Levi who had heavy stock losses during the drought of the late 1860s and sold it to John Rounsevell at a huge loss. He held the Moolooloo lease 1871-1878 at which time it was 756 square miles in extent. Moolooloo 20 kilometres from Blinman is still a working merino sheep station.

It is not known in what capacity R. Williams was employed at Moolooloo station.
