Description :

Three letters received by Mr Dodd and Miss Dodd advising them of the death on active service at Gallipoli of their son and brother Howard Dodd. They were written in February, March and April 1916 by Louis Nourse, W. Turner and Bugler Jarvis respectively to members of the Dodd family on the death of Howard Dodd at Gallipoli on May 2nd, 1915. Includes full transcripts of all three letters.


1316a Private Howard George Dodd, a blacksmith, was born at Port Elliot on 4 January 1894. He enlisted in the 16th Infantry Battalion, 2nd Reinforcements, on 30 November 1914. He was killed in Action at Gallipoli on 2 May 1915. Dodd's name is on the Lone Pine Memorial at Gallipoli.
