Published originally in 1856, the engineer William Hays provides costs and actual construction details of the Goolwa-Pt Elliot railway line. He includes details of the strength of the rail selected and the selection of timber for the sleepers, the necessary earthworks in the construction of the line and the choice of materials for ballast. He also details the plans for developing the harbour at Port Elliot and a breakwater. |
