Description :

Certificate dated 15 August 1945 (Victory in the Pacific Day), which was issued by the South Australian Civil Defence Department to Fred. Charles Praite 'in appreciation of services rendered' in the Engineering Branch of the Civil Defence Force of South Australia.


Germany had surrendered to the Allies on 7 May 1945, with V-E (Victory in Europe) Day celebrated on 8 May. ' Victory in the Pacific' with the official end of World War II was not achieved until the Japanese surrendered in the following August.
