Daniel [Vendor]

The optimism for Port Augusta's progress and future is evident with slogans on the map including "The Site of Big Terminals", "Port Augusta - The Inevitable Point of Location for Great Factories and Warehouses".
The Transcontinental Railway was in the latter stages of its construction. Finally in 1917 the Australian continent would be crossed from east to west by rail, with Port Augusta the hub of operations with workshops, and all the other facilities required for the long rail crossing.
