Description :

G. H. Michell and Sons Tannery building at Hindmarsh, Adelaide.

George Henry Michell began his wool stripping wool in 1870 in the small town of Undalya, on the Wakefield River in South Australia's mid-north. Michell bought the sheepskins from farmers in the surrounding areas and used the river water to wash the fleece. Eventually Michell moved his business to Hindmarsh in Adelaide so that it could expand.
