Description :

E.F.S. station, appliance and crew at Stansbury; Mr. A. Farrow on the right.

The fire service was initiated in Stansbury following a large house fire in 1951. Mr Arthur Farrow was the First Officer of the Stansbury Brigade.
The 1937 Fargo 5 ton truck was purchased through local fund raising and was equipped with a borrowed 400 gallon tank and pump. It was housed under a pepper tree near Jack Chandler's garage, later at the Stansbury Butter Factory until a purpose built fire station was constructed in Towler Street. At the same time the truck was properly fitted out with a 500 gallon tank. This truck remained in service until 1967.
In that year it was replaced with a 1960 Bedford 4WD fitted with a 670 gallon tank and Magirus pump. In 1987 this was replaced with a Hino GD. A new fire station was opened in October 1997, a cooperative venture between the Country Fire Service and the District Council of Yorketown.
