Description :

A map of Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island, possibly drawn by Mountford, 1948. The map was used to illustrate Mountford's published and archival works in relation to the AASEAL Expedition. The Australian mainland is located to the left of the map.


The north-eastern corner of the map shows Little Lagoon, the site of the Expedition party's first landing by Catalina seaplane, and Umbakumba, where the first camp was established.
