Description :

An enquiry into the Murray fisheries and the fishing industry within the South Australian portion of the River Murray. Particular reference is made to the Murray cod and its decline in numbers, and the pamphlet contains a section titled "Natural enemies of the Murray cod". Statistical tables covering years 1898-1900 detail the distribution and despatch of fish and the Murray cod from South Australian settlements situated on the Murray to Adelaide and Melbourne. Anecdotal evidence from River Murray fishermen notes that the quantity of fish in the Murray were declining.
