Description :

Advertisement for JA Holden & Co., wholesale saddlers, whip manufacturers and leather and rope merchants.

The Holden name has been associated with transport in South Australia since James Holden established his saddlery in Adelaide in 1856. Expanding as transport needs changed, the company went on to repair and manufacture horse carriages, then motorcycle side-cars and car bodies. Holden produced the first all-Australian made car in 1948.
