Description :
Fewer songs were published during the Second World War. Paper was scarce, songwriters were less prevalent than during the previous war and the popularity of the radio and overseas sound recordings resulted in less sheet music being published.
Popular Australian patriotic music from this period includes Just a Brown Slouch Hat (1942) by comedian George Wallace, Wake up! Wake up! Australia (1942) by Alfred Hill and V for Victory (1941) by South Australian Peter Dawson.
