View of the original sign setting out the bye-laws for both the wholesale and retail markets. The East End Markets were established by Richard Vaughan in 1867. They occupied land on East Terrace, between North Terrace and Rundle Street. The Bye-laws state that the wholesale market will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between 3 am and 8 am. The retail market will be held ever day, except Sunday, Christmas day and Good Friday from 8 am until sunset or 10 pm on Saturdays. The bye-laws also outline the responsibilities of the stall holders. |
