Description :

View of an idyllic scene of the River Torrens which runs from the Mount Lofty Ranges through Adelaide to the sea. In fact, in the early days of the colony, the River was used as Adelaide's sewer and it was some years before any improvements were made. The focus shifted to using the Torrens for recreational purposes after a weir was built in 1880 forming an ornamental lake.
