Description :

The Cootamundra wattle (Acacia baileyana) was introduced to South Australia from the eastern states as a garden plant. It occurs mainly in the Northern and Southern Lofty regions around the Adelaide Hills. Since it is not native to South Australia it is considered a weed.

Painting is by Rosa Fiveash who was born in Adelaide in 1854. She studied at the Adelaide Art School of Design under Louis Tannert and H.P. Gill. and specialised in painting Australian flora, illustrating Forest Flora of South Australia (1882-1890) by John Ednie Brown (1848-1899) and South Australian Orchids (1922) by Dr Richard Sanders Rogers.
