Description :

Looking across Purni Bore in the Witjira National Park at sunrise, south of the Northern Territory border, with steam rising from the warm artesian water.

First drilled in 1964 by a petroleum company it was left to flow when their exploration finished in the 1980s, creating an artificial wetland. The flow has now been regulated but it remains as an oasis for desert species.
