Description :

Teenagers in Polish national costume taking part in the Commonwealth Jubilee Celebrations as 'New Australians' in a parade down King William Street.


The Commonwealth Government in cooperation with the various State governments initiated the Jubilee Celebrations in 1951 to celebrate 50 years since the Commonwealth of Australia was proclaimed on 1 January 1901. Celebrations in Adelaide included a cavalcade through the streets, with various floats representing different cultural and regional groups.
