Description :

Camp used by Margaret McArthur on Bickerton Island, during the 1948 American-Australian Scientific Expedition to Arnhem Land. McArthur was accompanied by colleagues Ray Specht the Botanist and Howard Coates, an officer of the Native Affairs Branch.


After completing her nutrition research at Hemple [Hempel] Bay, Margaret McArthur worked from this camp on Bickerton Island from June 4th - 25th.
