Description :

Jill Spellicy, pictured in Beans Bar, Adelaide, September 1997.

Bean's Bar was a lesbian bar located at 258 Hindley Street, Adelaide. Initially operated by Jill Spellicy and Marg Jude, it was a popular lesbian and gay venue from 1992 to 1999. Prior to Beans Bar the venue was called Signals. Beans Bar provided a safe affirmative venue for lesbians, gay men and transgender people to socialise. Floor shows and music provided by DJs were regular entertainment.

This image was included in the GALS Exhibition in Beans Bar as part of the first Feast Festival in 1997.
