Description :

Early locally composed music also reflected social events, such as the comings and goings of early governors and their spouses, and the visits of royalty.

This piece was written in commemoration of the 1901 royal tour of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York. On 16 March 1901 they set sail on the Ophir from England for an eight month goodwill, overseas tour. The Duke's main task was to inaugurate the first Australian Federal Parliament in Melbourne. The tour took in all the Australian states.
