Description :

View of two ships under construction at Adelaide Ship Construction International, Moorhouse Road, Gillman taken 31 December 2006. Adelaide Ship Construction uses pre-fabrication methods.

Adelaide Ship Construction International began operations in 1980, building and repairing fishing vessels. In 1992 the company broadened its reach and began constructing vessels for the international market. It is currently building vessels up to 1,200 tonnes and with greater capabilities for speed and fuel efficiency. While largely constructing fishing trawlers and purse seiners, more recently the company has built large catamarans for the tourist industry.
The company is proud of its record of training apprentices in association with TAFE and of its specialisation in welding and fabrication processes in aluminium to satisfy stringent U.S. Military Standards.
