Description :

The launching of the Erina on March 1923. The vessel is on the stocks, ready to enter the water. This was Poole and Steel's third vessel for their Commonwealth government contract, the fourth having been cancelled. Shortly after its launch this ship was renamed Eugowra. All three ships were subsequently owned by Broken Hill Proprietary Ltd and renamed in 1957: Eurimbla became Iron Master, Euwarra the Iron Knob and Eugowra the Iron Warrior.

After the launch of the first ship Eurimbla, the new contract specified that the ships should be 'shelter deck type' but with the same hull dimensions of 331 feet long by 48 feet beam and 26 feet moulded depth. Tonnage was 5,500 deadweight.
Poole and Steel built only three ships for the Federal government at Osborne, thereafter building dredgers and barges for the South Austalian government before closing their South Australian operation sometime before 1937.
