Description :

This section of railway line is from the original track from Goolwa to Pt Elliot, built in 1854, the first public railway in Australia. Initially the railway used horse-drawn wagons but was converted to steam in 1885. The rail itself is wrought iron and clearly shows the laminations. It was donated to the Royal Geographical Society of South Australia in 1945.
