Health and sporting organisations encourage young people to participate in sport for exercise and fun. Basketball SA has developed a Basketball Pathway which encourages the playing of basketball from beginner to elite, at local level through to national representation. Aussie Hoops is an introductory program for primary school children. Miniball is a fun, social competition for primary school children and is the next step up from Aussie Hoops, and schools may have teams to play in the local centre. Then there are Local / Social Competitions usually played at a local Recreation Centre. The level of play in social competitions can be from the beginner to semi-elite. Social competitions are normally offered in age groups, as well as Senior and Mixed (Men and Women).

The poster features the Noarlunga City Tigers who won the 1986 grand final.
