Description :

Portrait of Agnes Gosse (nee Grant) wife of Dr William Gosse. The Gosses arrived in South Australia with a large family in 1850. Dr Gosse practised on North Terrace until retiring to Kent Town. One son, William Christie Gosse, was a surveyor and explorer. He was the first European to sight Uluru, which he named Ayers Rock after the South Australian Premier of the time, Sir Henry Ayers.
