Formed in Adelaide in early 1965 as the Mustangs, the Masters Apprentices became one of Australia's most popular groups. The original members were Mick Bower (guitar), Jim Keays (vocals), Rick Morrison (guitar), Gavin Webb (bass) and Brian Vaughton (drums). Their first single Undecided/War or hands of time was recorded in Max Peppers's Adelaide studio and released on Astor Records in October 1966.

In 2001 Graham Longley, the group's first manager (1965-1967), donated his tapes, papers and memorabilia to the State Library including this short, silent piece of footage showing the group in concert around 1967. Shows the group's second drummer Steve Hopgood.
