Description :

Letters written to Walter Dodd from Len Hussey while on active service in Egypt, France, Belgium and in hospital in England between 1 September 1915 and May 1918. They describe his training at Morphettville Army Camp, his service on the Western Front and his convalescence in England. Included is a poem sent with a letter written by Len Hussey to his friend Wally Dodd from France in October 1917.


4197 Leonard Hussey, a driver, enlisted on 23 August 1915 aged 40. As a member of the 50th Battalion he served in France, suffering considerably from frostbite and scabies. Hussey returned to Australia in 1919.
