Description :

Twin brothers David and Andrew Fyfe Taylor were born in Edinburgh in 1839. Andrew Taylor worked in the offices of the Evening Post and the Scottish record in that city, before they left for Sydney in 1862. In New South Wales they established a newspaper at Morpeth before going to New Zealand to manage the Southland news. By 1865 the two were in South Australia, and established the Wallaroo times at Wallaroo.

In the early years the brothers made their newspaper an outspoken political voice. They also worked to secure the government financed Beetaloo water scheme. In 1877 the Taylors began a newspaper at Gladstone, the Areas express, principally to further agitate for the waterworks.

David Taylor was involved with many local bodies, including the Kadina District Council, the local Oddfellows and Freemasons, the Kadina branch of the Farmers' and Producers' Political Union, the Kadina Benevolent Society, Kadina School Board of Advice, the Kadina and Wallaroo Jockey Club, and others.
