Description :

River steamers Success, Cannally, and Renmark towing the barge Crowie through lock no. 3 at Kingston.

From a researcher: On a flooded river, the PS Renmark, towing a granite-laden Crowie barge, could not make headway against the fast flowing stream through the navigable pass at Lock 3 (during its construction). PS Canally was brought into the fray but both steamers still couldn't make headway. PS Success was then added and the combined effort of the three steamers managed to stem the current and make it through the navigable pass. The barge Argo is moored in the background, along with bin barges and a derrick barge.
