Description :

Iolanda Devito was born in southern Italy and migrated to Australia in 1936. She and her husband established themselves in Waikerie, eventually buying their own property. In the selection presented here, Iolanda and her daugheter talk about how when many Italians in Australia were interned during the Second World War Iolanda's husband was not because it was deemed that it would be more beneficial for him to remain on the land to supply fruit and vegetables.
