Description :
A dedicated community of worshippers, however small, has generally placed great importance on the acquisition of a church building. For many communities, particularly in country districts, the building of a church was the first priority. At Port Pirie in 1912, the small independent group calling themselves the Port Pirie South Christian Church, were able to erect their small wooden building in just six days. The feat was recorded in a series of photographs published by the Observer in the newspaper's pictorial supplement.
