Portrait of Charles Cameron Kingston.

Born in Adelaide in 1850, Charles Cameron Kingston trained as a lawyer and entered the South Australian House of Assembly in 1881. Kingston became Premier of South Australia in 1893 and served to 1899. A strong supporter of federation and was a prominent player in the drafting of the Australian Constitution. Kingston served as Minister for Trade and Customs in the first Federal Government. He resigned from this post over his controversial Conciliation and Arbitration Bill. He died in Adelaide in 1908.
