Woolwashing works at Thebarton run by Taylor Brothers tanners, curriers and leather merchants. After shearing and sorting wool is washed in a process known as 'scouring' to remove any dirt, sweat and the natural wool wax. It is then 'carded' and combed before further processing to produce a yarn that can be spun. |
