Charles Mountford, South Australian ethnographer, anthropologist and photographer, at work in the field.


This portrait was taken circa 1962, when Mountford was in his early 70s and nearing the close of his active career. By this time Mountford had spent a lifetime working in the field on over 20 expeditions throughout the Australian interior and Top-end.
