The town of Mount Gambier in South Australia's South East was settled in the 1840s. The raw materials available to the pioneers of the district resulted in a distinctive built heritage. Early commercial, civic and residential buildings were constructed of locally quarried dolomite and limestone and are now an important part of the region's character.

The Mount Gambier Heritage Society in conjunction with the City of Mount Gambier, SES Channel 8 and Stan Thompson 5MG ABC produced this video in 1998.
