Description :

Helen Rasmus' birthday party with the birthday girl and her guests, all wearing party hats, pictured at the table. A hat birthday cake is the centrepiece. The children (from left to right) are: Kevin Welsby, ? Mifsud, ? Mifsud, Lorraine Rasmus, Beth Rasmus, ? Misfud, Helen Welsby, Helen Rasmus, unknown, Barry Matthews, Marie-Anne Poor (at back), P. Mifsud and David Rasmus. The photograph was taken in October 1957.

This was Helen's 7th birthday and many of her cousins helped her celebrate the day. All the children are wearing different party hats and the table is set with plates of sandwiches, possibly pikelets and glasses of cordial. The birthday cake is in the form of a bonnet and is the centrepiece of the party fare laid out on the kitchen table. Helen's young brother David is on the right at the front.

Helen believes the photograph may have been taken by her father Malcolm, rather than her grandfather Leslie Rasmus.
