Description : |
A young boy practices his writing on the blackboard. Perhaps when he was practised enough, the boy would graduate to working in The Adelaide copy book int. This was an entry level copybook which was used in South Australian government schools from 1887 until World War One. Usually blank, except for the example lines, the page would be completed by the students copying the examples of printed script writing. This photograph is from a collection of lantern slides which belonged to Lydia Longmore the first woman inspector of infant schools in South Australia. |
