Description :

A group of young children gathered around the teacher playing the piano.

Music stimulates and enhances the learning experience with the benefits extending beyond the music itself into other fields. It can build self confidence and assist in self expression, aid cognitive development and language skills.

This photograph is from a series of views taken from lantern slides of kindergarten and infant school premises and activities in South Australia and New South Wales. The slides were owned and used by Lydia Longmore, O.B.E., the first woman to be an Inspector of infant schools in South Australia.
