Yelta

The mining town of Yelta was born from the success of the Moonta mines. The Yelta Mine adjoins northern boundary of Moonta Mine. It was owned by the South Australian government and worked as a state enterprise from June 1911 to June 1913. The town of Moonta was predominately settled by Cornish miners and their families and at its most populous boasted being the second largest town in South Australia.
