Description :

The South Australian government established the provisions for the founding of communal settlements, known as village settlements, in a part of the Crown Lands Amendment Act in 1893. The Murtho village settlement began on 19 July 1894. Murtho was the only village settlement to require some capital from settlers before being allowed to join - £40 for unmarried settlers, £60 for married and £10 per child.

This pamphlet outlines the rules of the Murtho village settlement. It also details the powers of the village association board, including the authority to expel members.
