Description :

The Gem was one of the most popular boats on the river. When the Chaffey Brothers purchased Gem and several other boats they were already familiar in the passenger trade. The Company upgraded and refurbished the steamers with electric lights, improved catering and accommodation. Chaffey Brothers Company promoted the steamers and by linking with the railway line at Morgan and elsewhere suggested round trips from Melbourne to Adelaide.
