Description :

Capt. W.R. Randell and the Boiler of the "Mary Ann", the first Steamer on the River Murray

The boiler was built for Randell by a local blacksmith. Rectangular in design, when first tested it bulged ominously, and Randell wrapped bullock chains around it, tightening these with wooden wedges. The boiler, after its useful life was over, was displayed for many years in a park at Mannum, but is now housed within the Mannum Dock Museum.
