Description :

Interviews conducted with John Heinicke (OH 61/1) and Doug Hattan (OH 61/2) to learn more about the River Murray and its fish through exploring the personal histories of older commercial river fishermen. Both men have lived and worked on the River for many years and describe their working lives and their knowledge of the changes to the River and the populations and habits of the fish over the years.


In the selections presented here Heinicke discusses the Murray cod, the effect of seepage from fruit blocks on the River and other environmental issues. Hattan discusses the changes in the plant and bird life of the Murray over the years.
