Description :

This article discusses the blockage of the Murray mouth in 1981 attributed to poor rainfall and the removal of water for irrigation purposes upstream. Dredging is discussed to remedy the situation but the advice given at this time in this article is "we can only wait and hope for a long wet winter in the Murray and Darling headwaters".
