Description :

The Old Salt goes inland CD and accompanying sheet music booklet feature 'a collection of songs to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the river trade by Randell and Cadell in 1853'.

Geoffrey D'Ombrain's notes for the CD cover state: 'The Old Salt goes inland was inspired by four things, the Goolwa Wooden Boat Show, the anonymous poem How the sailor rode the brumby, the challenge of restoring a Coorong dory and an invitation to sing at the Echuca Steam Festival, October 2003.'

D'Ombrain's extensive research, travels to river towns, and family connections to river history have all contributed to this collection of songs, many of which were performed at Goolwa in 2003.
