Description :

Fewer songs were published in Australia during the Second World War. Paper was scarce, songwriters were less prevalent than during WWI and the popularity of the radio and overseas sound recordings all played a part.

In WWII songs there was a shift in acknowledging those that contributed to the allied effort as indicated on the cover of this piece - 'Composed as a musical tribute to our gallant allies', China being an ally in the war against Japan.
