The John Martin's Christmas Pageant : Girls carrying the banners '1977 Christmas Pageant'. The Adelaide Christmas pageant heralds in the Christmas season in South Australia - and to herald in the pageant itself there is always a formation of letter-wearers or banner-holders to tell one and all that the pageant has commenced for another year. The 1977 pageant took place on Saturday 12 November. Still thriving and growing after more than 40 years, the procession featured 16 bands, 59 floats and walking sets and a total of 1,330 participants. |
