Description : |
Richard Barratt took this photo on a wintry day probably from Tobin House on North Terrace in 1936. Adelaide citizens are viewing the carpet of flowers, one of the exhibits on North Terrace during National Flower Day. There are many overcoats and umbrellas to be seen in the crowd. National Flower Day (sometimes referred to as National Flower Week) was subsequently absorbed into the Adelaide Festival of Arts program. The War Memorial and Government House are well detailed in the image. In the far distance is a substantial building that could be the stands at the Adelaide Oval. |
